Bridgeport Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 by the Honorable Kevin Hollinshead founded to empower youth, young adults, and community members to reach their full potential. The non-profit was incorporated in the state of South Carolina in September 2017.
The Foundation organized the Annual Low Country Basketball Clinic, where youth can enroll in a basketball clinic and learn leadership skills and how to work well with others. The organization partnered with Charleston County Parks and Recreation, City of North Charleston, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and many others to put on the clinic.
The foundation also organized a baseball series of games between Claflin University and Morehouse College. Charleston County Students received free admission to the games in order for them to enjoy fun activities. They were also able to see successful young adults in college that they could emulate and become inspired.
The organization is establishing two scholarships and an endowment to empower young adults to pursue careers in teaching as well as in criminal justice. The scholarships will be offered to upcoming Benedict College Students.
The foundation seeks to partner with business, government, non profits, and concerned citizens in order to makes Charleston County a place that our children can be proud to grow up in.
We believe that if we work together, the best is yet to come for the Low Country area of South Carolina.
